Born and raised in the city of San Francisco, Boogie Brown started DJing in 1989, at a time when the mobile DJ scene flourished throughout the Bay Area. He was inspired to start DJing after watching a friend’s older brother mix records seamlessly, from one song to another, one afternoon in their garage. Since then he’s been on his grind, starting out doing mobile gigs in middle school; to hosting his own college radio show, “Wild Style Wednes- days”, at Cal State Hayward; to rocking nightclubs in the Bay Area and beyond; and producing numerous popular mixtapes.
Growing up during hip hop’s golden era and being surrounded by the Bay Area’s turntablist scene heavily influenced his views on music and DJing. Currently, you can catch him playing anything from hip-hop, to reggae dancehall, to soul and R&B, in numerous night clubs and lounges in and outside of the Bay Area. His mixed CD’s “Dedicated” and “Legends of Soul” have created quite a buzz, garnering accolades from some of hip hop's most influential DJs. DJing and hip hop has been a passion that he has pursued on stage and behind the scenes. He learned the ropes of the business aspect of DJing and organizing events while at Hype! Bookings and Management Agency. Since then, he’s been involved with throwing some of San Francisco’s hottest parties with his crews The Formula and Get Live SF.
